“On my 45th visit to Alaska, I experienced what is without doubt, the real Alaska Wilderness lodge adventure. Pete Grimm’s Icy Bay Lodge , 65 miles up the coast from Yakutat in the extreme north end of Southeast Alaska is a trip of a lifetime.  You’ll be transported by four wheeling ATV’s, boat, or plane to reach some of the finest Silver Salmon (Coho) fishing to be found in tidewater rivers in the Great Land as Alaska is called.  While the fishing is great for fly rodders or spin casters when seeking salmon up to 20 pounds ready to strike their offerings, just getting to the fishing grounds is an adventure in it’s own right.  When the weather is bright and sunny, the stunning view of Mount Saint Elias and the surrounding peaks is as remarkable as any Alaska scene can be.  This could never be called a soft adventure. You’ll want to be in shape and ready to wade, hike and experience some real wilderness travel, but at the end of the day a hearty meal and a warm bed await the visitor to Icy Bay Lodge.

It doesn’t get any better.” -Doug Wilson, Contributing Photographer for FishAlaska Magazine

“A true Alaska experience!! I was fortunate enough to visit the lodge for a week at the end of September 2009. The fishing is indescribably good. This trip is well suited for the novice or the expert. You will catch fish on this trip. In addition to the fishing the scenery is beyond what I expected. With the right conditions, you get to see Mt. Saint Elias and Mt Logan. The accommodations are as close to the Hyatt as one can expect in the wilderness of Alaska, coupled with fantastic food. I highly recommend this destination for anybody looking for a great fishing trip and Alaska getaway.”

“I would definitely give Icy Bay Lodge five stars! I spent a week in September 2009 during the Coho Salmon run, and it was out of this world. The whole experience, from the fishing, the sights, the wildlife, the accommodations, and the food was beyond my wildest expectations. Pete Grimm and his crew know how to do it first class. I caught fish until my arms hurt, and that’s no exaggeration. The guides Nick Coe and Rob Cannon made it so easy that even a novice fisherman could catch fish. If you’re looking for an Alaskan trip that gets you away from the crowds with top notch accommodations, this trip is for you!”
